Hyde Park is one of the most desirable neighborhoods of modern Austin. The legacy of its settlement and growth reminds one of the important role Hyde Park has played in the history of Austin.

An early promotional map of Hyde Park reveals Shipe's layout of the new neighborhood. Drawn by noted map maker Augustus Koch, who prepared "bird's eye" maps of many Texas cities including Austin, Cuero and Victoria, it depicts a grid pattern of tree-lined streets. The west side of the development was dominated by a large park in the area bounded by present-day Guadalupe, West 38th, Avenue D and West 43rd streets. A "Railway Car Barn" for the Austin Rapid Transit Railway Co., the city's streetcar line, was shown near the southwest corner of Avenue D and Third (now 40th) Street. Two separate man-made bodies of water are labeled Gem Lake and Crystal Fountain. Frequently mentioned among the amenities Hyde Park offered, the lakes were drained in the mid-1890s to provide additional land for residential use as part of the effort to develop Hyde Park Addition No. 2.

Let's visit the World Heritage Site of the Ancient Capital of Nara
Nara Park is one of Japan's most famous tourist attractions, where history and nature are in harmony. The vast site is dotted with many temples and historical sites that are cultural heritage from the Nara period, and is particularly famous for its coexistence with deer. Historical buildings, Buddhist statues and beautiful gardens dating back to the Nara period attract visitors. Visitors can also enjoy the beautiful nature in each of the four seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn creating a magnificent scene. Walking along the walking paths in Nara Park, you can feel the unique atmosphere of the ancient capital.

*The deer in Nara Park are herbivores and eat grass and nuts. Deer crackers are a safe snack for them. Do not feed them sweets, vegetables or paper as they will upset their stomachs.

This place is special to me because it is such a lovely, charming, and weird location in South Korea with a wonderful history. Imsil introduced cheese to the Korean diet in 1958, when a Belgian man moved to the region. He raised goats and made his own cheese, and the governor at the time requested that he teach the skill to others in the community. Imsil Cheese Theme Park provides a place to have fun, learn about cheese, and make it yourself!

New Heaven (1893)

The Mozu Tumulus Group, located in Sakai City, Osaka, is one of the most famous burial mounds in Japan. It is said that there used to be more than 100 burial mounds, and 44 of them still remain today. The main tumuli are the Nintoku-tennō-ryō tumulus, the largest front-recessed circular tomb in Japan, and the Rinchū-tennō-ryō tumulus across Daisen Park; the Itasuke, Gobyozan, and Nisanzai tumuli on the east side; and the Antishō-tennō-ryō tumulus on the north side. As the "Mozu and Furuichi Kofun Tumulus Group," it will be registered as Osaka's first World Heritage Site in 2019.

I'm not originally from Orlando, but I like to say that our little family is "from" Orlando since my husband and I both went to school here, met, got married, and had two babies in the City Beautiful. During our time as Orlando residents, we loved to get takeout from a restaurant or grab a drink + dessert from a cafe or pick up fixin's for a perfect picnic and sit together under the warm sunshine in one of Orlando's many green parks. This place is special to me because it allows me to really experience what it means to be a Canadian. From the vast wildlife and foliage, to incredible sights in every direction you look, there is never a dull moment while exploring Banff National Park. The turquoise blue lakes are exceptionally picturesque. While the Rocky Mountains always offer challenging hikes that take me to new heights. Every trip brings new experiences, breathtaking views and unforgettable adventures. Downtown Banff has a delicious food scene and plenty of shops to spend hours perusing. There are plenty of activities for the young and old during any time of the year. This National Park is one of many Canadian treasures which I can’t get enough of!

Growing up in Tanzania, I have fond memories of visiting our country’s various national parks and game reserves. My father used to fly bush planes such as Cessnas and Pipers from our home city of Dar-Es-Salaam to take us to the Serengeti, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Selous Game Reserve. I vividly remember being in awe of witnessing the great wildebeest migration in the Serengeti and the snow atop Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tanzania’s wildlife and warm culture is a beautiful ode to the rich culture that is a mix of Bantu and Arabic influences also known as the Swahili Coast. I hope this map evokes a sense of exploration and curiosity in you. Karibu Tanzania!
