Take a tour of Revolutionary Paris, the home of the last queen of France, Marie Antoinette. Begin your tour at Versailles, a city within a palace, to witness the splendor of court life. Visit Tuileries Gardens where once stood the palace where the King and Queen were under house arrest. The Louvre used to hold the royal treasures, but became a museum during the Revolution. Eat at Café Procope, the oldest cafe in Paris, where the leaders Danton, Robespierre, and Marat met to discuss plans. You can eat at several establishments which serve Marie's favorite pastries, pistoles chocolates, and apple tea. Drive by and see the architecture, or visit the other sites which represent the more vivid parts of the revolutionary war that were inevitable, the change which was necessary to bring representation to all classes of people. Finish your tour by driving north to St. Denis Basilica, where the remains of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette are interred. Centered on the Seine, depicts Paris prior to the French Revolution. Covers Paris on both sides of the Seine. Framed by a floral border. Title cartouche showing angels and an allegory of Paris with the symbols of the arts and sciences. Around the map are 28 views of places and landmarks. The map shows streets, parishes, colleges, hospitals, important buildings, landmarks, major squares and other points of interest. Includes tables identifying points of interest. The present example is an early state of the plan. There is an earlier edition of 1783 and later editions of 1789, 1792, 1794, 1801 and 1802. The later editions apparently have significant revisions, especially those issued after 1793.

Along the Rhine, Germany’s defensive Siegfried Line is shown. The English Channel separating England and France is shown defended by the Dover Patrol, comprised not only of ships as in WWI, but also aircraft. The map’s border is particularly striking, with images of aircraft across the top, warships across the bottom, and heavy artillery and tanks in the margins right and left. Shows rivers, mountains, landmarks, major cities and towns. Relief shown pictorially and by shadings. Includes distances.

Map of all the European St James’ routes to the city of Santiago de Compostela. It represents Europe with its different paths, from the most important tracks, to small walking trails through cities and villages and even seaways, not usually shown in maps for pilgrims.

This is Erhard Etzlaub's second printed European roadmap from 1501, the so-called Landstrassen map. It is very similar to Etzlaub's earlier Romweg map, which was the first ever printed european roadmap.

Europe North Down (1501)

Very decorative large pictorial map of Europe designed in 1946 by Pierre Herault and published in Angers by Editions Jacques Petit in 1955. The separately issued map shows the whole of Europe without national borders and it is richly illustrated by nice illustrations featuring people, flora, animals, farms, gastronomic delight of the various countries. In the top right corner, a smiling sun gives a new bright optimism to the continent after the 6 years of conflict. A very nice uncommon map.
