Reset was created out of our co-founders' mutual struggle to find a good place to work. We tried coffeeshops, we tried expensive coworking spaces and we tried staying at home - but none of those really worked. Spaces were either too crowded, too loud, too expensive or just plain boring.

During dinner at an especially stunning East Austin restaurant, we looked around and realized we had already found a beautiful workspace. Gorgeous windows, comfortable seats and all the space we would ever need - all sitting empty during the day when the restaurant wasn't open.

The rest of the story includes a lot of hustle, countless conversations with restaurant owners and user research. 
 
In the end, Reset is a way for people to experience new spaces in their local communities and get their work down - without breaking the bank. 
 
Our focus is and will always be on helping our members do their best work, and experience new spaces right in their neighborhood.

This place is special to me because it has opened me the doors to the world of whales and has given me inspiration, good friends, illustration projects, work, contacts, relax, adventures and even an art exhibition at the Húsavík Whale Museum! Every time I’m there, I feel like being home and there is always something good to do! Go see the whales, relax at the sea baths looking at the bay, get inspired by the mountains, a coffee or a tasty lobster soup, explore the town museums, walk around the harbor or near the river, or just breathe and feel that you exist! This is my heart’s home, a place where I’ve always belonged to.

Edinburgh is a special place to me because it's my second "home". I've been living in Edinburgh for 12 years and 3 months now and so many sweet and sour memories happened in this beautiful city and shockingly I have never illustrated anything about Edinburgh before. That's why I decided to illustration this beautiful city as my second entry for this competition. I use to working in one of restaurant in this map for 4 and half years as a professional chef before I turned my career into professional illustrator. My first Children's menu commission job was commissioned by one of the most delicious burger restaurant in Edinburgh and it's also in this map. All the locations I decided to illustrated in this map are my favourite location in Edinburgh. Maybe one day when you have chance to visit Edinburgh you can use my map as guide!

I drew this map for TDAT x Stroly Mapping Special Places contest in November 2019. This place is special to me because it is the birthplace and home to a woman who means the world to me, my mother. Despite being born and raised in this town, I've never really got myself familiar with it. Probably because of the many years being out of town for studies. Listing out the places of interest was quite challenging and I think that is normal for a lot of us when it comes to extracting such information from one's hometown; how ironic. Sure, you frequent its traffic, you rush through that one hidden gem on daily basis, you may know every turn and corner like the back of your hand but to get that sense of 'this town is touristy enough', that may need some work. My secret is to turn to TripAdvisor. That way, I get to learn to see it from a different perspective. That's how I see the hidden gems - that's how I realise there's a lot to re-learn about this little town we call home. So here is a little introduction to Klang from my side.

This place is special to me because it was one of the most interesting places I visited during my 2017 solo trip in Japan. Naoshima definitely lives up to its name "Japan's Art Island" - where contemporary art meets architecture meets nature. The two GIANT pumpkin sculptures by one of the most acclaimed Japanese artists, Yayoi Kusama, were massive and became the symbol of the island. James Turrell’s work at Chichu museum and Minamidera blew. my. mind. The garden that built just like Monet's paintings was so beautiful. It felt like I stepped into his artwork! I also loved the beauty of simplicity and the creative use of natural light in Tadao Ando’s architecture. And of course - the delicious food and friendly people there. Spend a day on Naoshima next time you are in Japan. You won’t regret it!

This place is special to me because...I just moved to Austin this summer, so it's my new neighborhood that I have enjoyed exploring through food. These are a few of my favorite breakfast spots in downtown Austin. Here it's Tacos over Burritos in the morning, and I have to say the Migas at VeraCruz are the best! My favorite trendy, chill and work places are on the west side, along with some great diners. But, the absolute best place is a bit north of downtown so I had to squeeze it in - Bird Bird Biscuit. It is worth the extra drive - get the fresh fried Queen Beak sandwich it's the best in town!

You know you want a wide selection of wonderfully weird things to do in Austin, Texas! I lived in Austin for years, so the city is near and dear to my heart. There are so many wacky things to do in this place. From the funky goodness of South Congress to the Cathedral of Junk (made of...yes...junk) to Chicken Poo Bingo, Austin has a totally unique vibe. My father attended graduate school at UT in the 70's, and I'd get to visit the campus with him occasionally. I grew up on Willie Nelson and Schlotzky's. I worked in an art gallery on 6th street after college and fell in love with my husband in those years. We've taken romantic strolls through Laguna Gloria, played mini-golf at Peter Pan's under the giant T-Rex, and held hands while moonlight snorkeling at Barton Springs. The whole city makes me feel young and in love with happy memories! Seeing the bat colony rise into the sky at dusk is something you should see at least once in a lifetime. And don't skip Uncommon Objects...they have everything you don't know you want yet. Do you hear that, taxidermied tiny alligator wearing a party hat? I'm coming for you. Shiner Bock ice cream from Amy's will be the perfect end to any day. Happy Austin-ing!

Wonderfully Weird Austin

Alexander Samuel MacLeod was a painter and printmaker. He was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada. After moving to San Francisco, he continued his artistic training at the California School of Design under Frank Van Sloun. 
 
In 1921, MacLeod arrived in Hawaii, where he worked in the art departments of the magazine Paradise of the Pacific and the local papers, The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. By 1929, he had returned to Canada and resided there for ten years. Again in Hawaii, MacLeod became the director of the graphic art department for the United States Army in the Pacific. 
 
In 1943, he published a book of his Hawaiian prints, The Spirit of Hawaii, Before and After Pearl Harbor. MacLeod retired to Palo Alto, California, where he died in 1956. 
 
Scenes are amazing vignettes and insets of life in Honolulu. An inset piece in center has written: "In this map you will find depicted in pictorial fashion the history, landmarks & customs of these colorful isles. A map of Honolulu and the Sandwich Islands which we know call the Hawaiian Islands."

Unusual and elegant design incorporating Aztec symbols. Emily Edwards was a noted artist of the period. Intended in part as a functional representation of the Mexico City Transit and Power System, the map is a remarkable work of historical and cultural value, celebrated in modern times as one of the most important images of post Revolution Mexico City. While Edwards intended to faithfully represent the tram and lighting system, embellished by historical images of the City, the map also incorporates Mexican cultural traditions, superimposed over an image of Cuauhtémoc, the final Aztec ruler and one of the most iconic Mexican historical images.

When it comes to sharing or increasing access to data, there is a wide range of different approaches out there and finding the most suitable approach can be tricky. We’ve created the Data Access Map to help people and organisations explore the various options and navigate this difficult terrain.

From APIs and blockchains to competitions and data trusts, there are many different approaches that people can take to sharing or increasing access to data. So many, in fact, that it can be difficult to understand the full range of approaches or weigh the benefits and limitations of each. This in turn can make it difficult for us – as data holders, users, researchers, regulators and policymakers – to identify which approach best suits our needs. 

At the ODI, we’ve embarked on a journey to research, map and describe the various data access approaches out there in the hope that we can help people and organisations to navigate this vast landscape. While some of that work has focused on particular approaches, such as data trusts and open data, we have the wider goal of helping people and organisations understand, compare and adopt the right approach for them.

We know we can’t do this alone so we are keen to know what other people think of the map and how we can improve it to make it an accessible, accurate, clear and useful tool for others.
