Tenerife is one of the eight Canary Islands and is the largest and most populated of them. The island is known as the "Island of Eternal Spring" for its warm and pleasant climate during the whole year.

This place is special to me because it was one of the most interesting places I visited during my 2017 solo trip in Japan. Naoshima definitely lives up to its name "Japan's Art Island" - where contemporary art meets architecture meets nature. The two GIANT pumpkin sculptures by one of the most acclaimed Japanese artists, Yayoi Kusama, were massive and became the symbol of the island. James Turrell’s work at Chichu museum and Minamidera blew. my. mind. The garden that built just like Monet's paintings was so beautiful. It felt like I stepped into his artwork! I also loved the beauty of simplicity and the creative use of natural light in Tadao Ando’s architecture. And of course - the delicious food and friendly people there. Spend a day on Naoshima next time you are in Japan. You won’t regret it!

When I  first knew about Stroly’s map service, I thought of making a map of a Greek Island called Spetses. I never visited this place before but I become very interested of this island because it was often mentioned in Haruki Murakami’s essay.
In the essay, a map was drawn by Valentina and it really caught my attention. It was a bit  weird but I couldn’t get over it. I become very interested  and the way Haruki stated his short-term stay in Spetses was very interesting. 
The book was published 30 years ago but I decided to draw it with the intention to introduce this island that had been in my mind from Haruki-san’s essay. I made  further research about the place and I’ve seen many places that still remains. I would be very thrilled to visit this place one day.

Jeju Island is a beautiful island filled with history, nature and pop culture to the south of South Korea.  Small but dense enough in things to experience that there is something to do no matter the time frame.  Partake in the island's unique citrus fruit and decadent black pork, hike along it's many Olle trails or visit the Unesco site "Sunrise Peak", or visit one of its many unique museums, dedicated to a number of interesting subjects. Jeju island is rich in history and brimming with adventure!

Alexander Samuel MacLeod was a painter and printmaker. He was born on Prince Edward Island, Canada. After moving to San Francisco, he continued his artistic training at the California School of Design under Frank Van Sloun. 
 
In 1921, MacLeod arrived in Hawaii, where he worked in the art departments of the magazine Paradise of the Pacific and the local papers, The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. By 1929, he had returned to Canada and resided there for ten years. Again in Hawaii, MacLeod became the director of the graphic art department for the United States Army in the Pacific. 
 
In 1943, he published a book of his Hawaiian prints, The Spirit of Hawaii, Before and After Pearl Harbor. MacLeod retired to Palo Alto, California, where he died in 1956. 
 
Scenes are amazing vignettes and insets of life in Honolulu. An inset piece in center has written: "In this map you will find depicted in pictorial fashion the history, landmarks & customs of these colorful isles. A map of Honolulu and the Sandwich Islands which we know call the Hawaiian Islands."

Around borders there are comic strip panels from the Travel Tykes Weekly Magazine or from service stations are numbered & were to be cut out & pasted in proper place on the map. On verso shows Mickey and Donald at the Fair, featuring vignettes on the major attractions of the Golden Gate Exposition.

Farrow's map of Manhattan is full of interesting details well rendered,
all of which contribute to an outstanding design and makes this map one of the best pictorial maps of the 1920's in the United States. This appears to be the only major map that Farrow designed. He died young, at age 40. The title cartouche is covered by the printed label which also appears on the map envelope (not present with this copy). Some copies do not have the printed label covering the cartouche.
