Nori Tougama Season 2 【Scene Introduction】<Episode 2 and others> This location appears frequently throughout the series as the home and studio of Sham's master. Many emotional scenes are depicted here. 【Filming Anecdotes】 This location continues to appear as the master's pottery studio, as in Part 1. This was a place most beloved by the Malaysian staff, and the home of their beloved Japanese master. Unfortunately, the master passed away after filming Season 2. The Malaysian staff created and donated a special video in memory of him. The master's memory was also mentioned at the Malaysian screening. The bond between this pottery master and Malaysia was so deep and loving. The gallery also features everyone's autographs written on pottery. Please also take a look at photos of the smiling Malaysian staff and the master. Season 1 【Scene Introduction】<Episode 2 and Others> This place appears frequently throughout the series as the home and studio of Siamese master. Many emotional scenes are depicted here. 【Filming Anecdotes】 This location was the inspiration for the drama, and it's no exaggeration to say that without it, From Saga With Love wouldn't have been born. In fact, the same producer had visited this place before the drama was produced. The original project didn't come to fruition, but the producer decided to use this location to start planning another drama. That project was From Saga With Love. In the drama, a Malaysian man named Siam learns pottery, and nearly one-third of the filming in Saga was shot here. There's a crucial scene in which a large amount of pottery is accidentally shattered. The preparations and actual filming were extremely tough. The connection between this location, the work, and the cast and crew was largely due to the personality of the pottery master. He was extremely willing to take on the unfamiliar filming, even from the preparation stage onward, and even stayed with us late into the night. We were also able to capture the master's delicate techniques, such as his hands as he worked on the pottery, adding further value to the drama. The second half of the filming in Saga was shot at this location, and unlike other locations, we stayed in one place for a long time, making it a very comfortable place. While filming here, we were given some soba noodles as a gift. This place is actually both a pottery factory and a soba restaurant. Some people visit just to eat the soba, but during filming, they refused all customers and cooperated. The soba noodles made by the master had a wonderful aroma and smooth texture, and the Malaysian staff were very pleased. It was also here that we celebrated the end of filming on the final day, June 21, 2023. The next day was free time for everyone to spend, but the director and assistant director said they wanted to make pottery at this pottery factory, so they spent the day experiencing pottery. They apparently created two pieces of pottery, which are displayed as treasures in their home in Malaysia. In addition, a white circular plaque is displayed in the pottery's gallery, signed by the main cast and crew of the film. If you have the opportunity to visit, be sure to check it out. They create pottery at their kiln and gallery in Minamikawaharayama, Arita Town, Saga Prefecture. They specialize in Arita ware from the early 1600s, and their glazes are blended using natural materials (minerals), resulting in pottery with a rich flavor. Kyushu Saga International Airport

Kyushu Saga International Airport Season 2 【Scene Introduction】<Episode 2 and Others> This is the "beginning" scene, where Karma, Bianca, and Bob arrive in Saga. This is where their story in Saga begins. 【Studio Anecdotes】 Thanks to ANA's generous sponsorship, we were able to film inside a counter that is normally off-limits. You can even spot an ANA employee among the customers waiting at the counter! ♪ Season 1 【Scene Introduction】<Episode 2> This is the "beginning" scene, when Karma, Bianca, and Bob arrive in Saga. This is where their story in Saga begins. 【Filming Anecdotes】 Since we were filming at an airport, we spent time on the day of filming at this location, holding pre-filming meetings and confirming schedules. Initially, we considered shooting at Fukuoka Airport instead of Saga Airport. There are no direct flights to Malaysia, and the planes don't actually arrive at Saga Airport, but we decided to use it due to its flexibility in filming. We had planned to film detailed scenes of the planes arriving inside the airport, but we had to quickly change the content and ended up with only exterior scenes. This was due to the time it took to film the police box, which was filmed next at this location. The airport opened in July 1998 on reclaimed land facing the Ariake Sea in southern Saga Prefecture. Domestically, direct flights to Tokyo are available. With flights to Taiwan, South Korea, and China, the airport serves as a gateway from Asia to Kyushu. Ureshino Footbath (Yuyado Square) 【Scene Introduction】<Season 2 - Episode 8> Rin-chan (female) appears on her way to run an errand. It's a memorable scene where Bianca watches over Rin-chan from a hidden vantage point. 【Filming Anecdotes】 The scene where Bianca secretly chases Rin-chan was filmed just as the traffic light was changing. Also, the man reading the newspaper in the plaza is the Japanese driver of the car that transported our crew! What a wonderful performance! This plaza features a foot bath and a steamed foot bath, which is rare in Japan. Part of the foot bath is wheelchair accessible. The steamed foot bath seats seven people. In Episode 8, Master, Sham, and Bob go to the mudflats to cheer up Master. But who came up with this plan...? 【Filming Anecdotes】 While scouting for a script and locations, the crew came up with the idea of "playing on the tidal flats" to cheer up their pottery teacher. These tidal flats also have a deep connection to Malaysia. The "kuala" in Malaysia's capital, Kuala Lumpur, means "a confluence of rivers," and "lumpu" means "mud." The Malaysian staff who arrived on set also saw the lagoon and pronounced it "lumpu." This is the first roadside station registered in Saga Prefecture. Agricultural and marine products are sold at the farmer's market, Senjaichi, and are visited by approximately 640,000 people annually. Naba Koshian 【Scene Introduction】<Season 2 - Episode 3 etc.> Appears as the Master's home. The Master's emotional changes are depicted in scenes such as his birthday party and conversation with Sham. 【Filming Anecdotes】 While considering locations, we were looking for an old Japanese house. In particular, we were looking for a bathroom and a nostalgic view of Japan from the balcony. In the midst of all this, the Saga Prefecture Film Commission suggested this house, which had previously been used for filming in another production, and we decided to use it for filming. The owner was very accommodating, and filming proceeded smoothly. Nabagoshian was built in 1952 in Nabagoshi Village, Edarigi, Karatsu City. Located in a small village nestled in the mountains, this traditional Japanese campsite preserves its tranquil atmosphere and offers a nostalgic experience of the early Showa era. However, this time the filming took place at night, and the cast wandered into this location for a slightly spooky scene. You probably don't often walk through the pine grove at night, but if you do, please be careful. If you see someone say, "Am I pretty?", run away without hesitation (lol). Nanatsugama 【Scene Introduction】<Season 2 - Episode 4> A scene from the trip to Saga. It's impressive to see Hadori cheer up a depressed Karma with a Japanese game. 【Filming Anecdotes】 While filming would likely focus primarily on the spot overlooking the Nanatsugama, the staircase here turned out to be the main location. Do you remember playing rock-paper-scissors as a kid? If you won, you'd take three steps if you made rock, six steps if you made scissors, and six steps if you made paper? In fact, during location scouting, a Japanese crew member and a Malaysian director had a fierce battle over this game, and it ended up being incorporated into a scene in the drama (lol). After watching the drama, be sure to come and play rock-paper-scissors in the same place! This scenic spot has also been designated a national natural monument. Chidoribashi Bridge 【Scene Introduction】<Season 2 - Episode 6> While the five of them are taking a walk, Sham and Karma start talking about their future. Karma confesses that the shop burned down. This is the scene where Sham's emotions explode. 【Filming Anecdotes】 This was the location for the scene in which the male and female protagonists have a very serious discussion and their emotions explode. After proposing various locations, we finally decided on this bridge. They also seemed to like the location because it felt so Japanese. However, it was also a route to Karatsu's entertainment district, so we had a lot of trouble keeping people and noise down while filming... Perhaps the bridge got its name because people would stagger across it after finishing their drinks (lol). This wooden bridge spans the Machida River, which flows through the center of Karatsu. You won't be able to take your eyes off the two of them having so much fun. 【Filming Anecdotes】 We filmed at the newly renovated observation tower, and everyone was excited from the location scouting! During the actual filming, we only had a minimal number of people due to the small size of the observation tower. Opened in 1974, this is the only underwater observation tower in the Sea of Japan. From the 7-meter-deep underwater observation room with 24 underwater windows, you can see approximately 30 species of fish swimming, as well as seaweed and shellfish in their natural state. Yobuko Morning Market 【Scene Introduction】<Season 2 - Episode 4> A scene from a trip to Saga. Karma and Hadori are incredibly close, while Bob, watching them, is passionate about their friendship. 【Filming Anecdotes】 During location scouting, we sampled the food at this morning market. Apparently, the squid and turban shell shops left a lasting impression, so this location was confirmed early on. What really saved me here was the lively atmosphere and the warmth of the women running the stalls. Fortunately, someone else quickly responded, so the shoot was not affected and we were able to proceed without incident. The grilled turban shells seemed a little grotesque to the Malaysian people. Actually, the turban shell shop owner I had requested wasn't there on the day of the shoot, which made me panic. This is one of Japan's three largest morning markets, alongside Wajima in Ishikawa Prefecture and Takayama in Gifu Prefecture. The director and his team were drawn to this location, which is enjoyed by locals and not just a typical tourist spot. While dogs aren't a common sight in Malaysia due to religious reasons, the adorable mascot dog here was the reason for its appearance in the drama. [Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 2, etc.> The inn where Karma, Bianca, and Bob stay in Saga is introduced. It was used in various scenes during their stay in Saga. [Filming Anecdotes] The reason this inn was chosen as a filming location was probably due to its approach from the outside, the lobby, and the lounge. We visited several inns, but the director liked this one, Omuraya, the most. Filming was challenging because there were regular guests as well, but at one point, they kindly closed the lounge to prioritize the filming. During the filming period, the cast and crew were a bit tired of Japanese bento, so the Kentucky Fried Chicken lunch provided at this time was a huge hit. The lunch venue was filled with chicken bones! (laughs) Ureshino Onsen, a post town on the Nagasaki Kaidō, has a history of over 200 years, originally established as a secondary station for the Ōmura clan during the Sankin-kōtai process. While preserving its historical legacy, Ureshino Onsen has continuously adapted to the needs of each era. Tea Fields of Ureshino City (Chayuujin Nanatomo)

[Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 5> A beautiful scene where Bianca drinks tea in a kimono. The visuals, which highlight Bianca's beauty, are truly memorable [Filming Anecdotes] Filming took place in June 2023, coinciding with the tea harvesting season, thanks to the cooperation of Ureshino tea farmers. Ureshino was the first filming location in Japan. The tea field shoot spanned two days. Coming from tropical Malaysia, the crew was quite exhausted by the heat combined with Japan's humidity, and many were suffering from heat exhaustion. What saved them was Ureshino's cold-brewed tea. On the second day, we initially offered barley tea, but none of the Malaysian crew touched it. However, when a farmer suggested cold-brewed tea, we provided it, and even the juice-loving Malaysians were hooked on Ureshino tea. From that point on, Ureshino's cold tea was always available on set, and it kept everyone hydrated throughout the shoot. The tea became so popular that many bought large quantities of Ureshino tea as souvenirs. For many of the staff and cast, Japanese tea became synonymous with Ureshino tea. That said, the shoot in the tea fields was extremely hot. Moreover, a key figure who provided immense support during the tea field shoot was Mr. Nagao from "Chayuujin Nanatomo"! Overflowing with love, Mr. Nagao quickly bonded with the cast and crew, becoming an indispensable part of the drama. You can surely hear the most behind-the-scenes stories from this drama (such as Bianca's kimono and the tatami stage episodes) while discovering the charm of Ureshino tea. Don't hesitate to inquire about the tea field tour! The expansive tea fields are a symbol of Ureshino's landscape. The cultivation of Ureshino tea is said to have begun in earnest during the Keian era (1648–51) by the tea pioneer, Shinbee Yoshimura. Ureshino tea refers to two types: the 'pan-fried tamaryokucha,' which has a roasted flavor and refreshing finish, and the 'steamed tamaryokucha,' known for its rich aroma and smooth, mellow taste. Ureshino Onsen Public Bath Siebold-no-Yu

[Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 4> A scene where Karma, Sham, and Bob desperately search for the missing Bianca. Meanwhile, Bianca is enjoying a foot bath with Rin and the others. [Filming Anecdotes] The reason Ureshino Onsen was chosen as a filming location is that the 'onsen town' scenery, unique to Japan, was particularly appealing. However, the Malaysian staff and actors didn’t seem to join public baths or onsen together. Some Chinese-Malaysians, however, entered the onsen multiple times. Among the many locations in Ureshino Onsen, Siebold Bath was selected for its exterior and the atmosphere of the adjacent bridge. Although it was a night shoot, the illumination (which was present during filming but seems to no longer be there) was beautiful. As for the footbath, the staff showed a lot of interest. The concept of a free onsen footbath seemed unusual to them. Additionally, there was a separate 'steam bath,' and I remember during the location scouting in May 2023, they came in T-shirts and shorts, but it rained and was cold, so they found comfort in Ureshino’s steam bath. Filming at the intersection in the onsen town was challenging due to the heavy traffic, but thanks to the cooperation of Ureshino’s citizens, we were able to manage. The Gothic-style building of Siebold Bath, evoking the Taisho Romantic era, is a two-story wooden structure covering approximately 750 square meters. Located across from Ureshino Onsen Park, this retro building with its striking orange pointed roof brings the history of Ureshino Onsen back to life. Inside, there is a large public bath, private baths, and a citizen gallery, making it a popular gathering and relaxation spot for both locals and visitors from outside the city. Vermilion hot spring bridge

[Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 3> A scene where Karma and Bob have a conversation while deep in thought. Their emotions were beautifully portrayed along with the magical lighting. [Filming Anecdotes] The scene at this onsen bridge was an extremely tough shoot, lasting until after 2 a.m. It was here that I realized just how persistent the director is when it comes to filming. (Which is why I believe the result will be an excellent production.) The vermillion bridge, located in Ureshino Onsen Park, is iconic. From the center of the bridge, you can get a perfect view of the entire Siebold Bath. At night, the bridge is illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. Karatsu Castle

[Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 4> A scene where the four of them admire the beautiful castle scenery. Here, Bianca and the other three get separated... [Filming Anecdotes] This location was immediately chosen because of its appearance resembling a traditional Japanese castle. What they particularly liked was the view of Karatsu Castle from the parking lot and the castle bridge. Even from the perspective of the Malaysian crew, the scenery was beautiful, and they took numerous photos on the bridge. Filming in the parking lot also required extensive preparation. The shooting around Karatsu Castle involved a large volume of scenes and lasted until nightfall. The rain added to the challenge, making it a rather difficult shoot. Karatsu Castle is said to have been completed over a span of seven years, beginning in 1602, by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's retainer, Terazawa Shima-no-kami Hirotaka. The current castle keep was completed in 1966. Also known as 'Maizuru Castle,' it is famous for its cherry blossoms and wisteria flowers. Cape Hado Turban shell grilled shop

[Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 4 & 5> At the turban shell grilled shop, Bob is left with mixed emotions... In the memorable fifth episode, featuring a beautiful sunset, Hado Misaki appears. [Filming Anecdotes] This location will also play an important role in Season 2, so be sure to check it out. It's a beautiful place that suits couples perfectly. Actually, the turban shell grilling scene wasn’t originally planned, but since the shop was right in front of the parking lot when we went to see Hado Misaki, the team suddenly took interest in it, and we decided to film there. It was their first time experiencing Japanese-style grilled turban shell, and they were curious, but most of them didn’t quite enjoy the liver part of the shell. Hado Misaki is a small cape jutting out from the Higashi-Matsuura Peninsula, located at the northwesternmost tip of Kyushu. It has been recognized as one of the '100 Best Beaches of Japan,' part of the 'Genkai Quasi-National Park,' and a 'Lover’s Sanctuary Project Satellite.' The sunset is especially breathtaking, with the sea and island silhouettes bathed in orange, creating a stunning contrast. [Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 5> A surprising scene where Karma and Bob...!? The shot of them drinking sencha in a beautiful garden is also memorable. [Filming Anecdotes] This filming location was chosen on the recommendation of the Saga Prefecture Film Commission as a quintessentially Japanese spot. For the scene where Bob holds Karma, about 10 staff members were using fans to create wind to blow Karma's hair. In the scene where Karma and Bob drink tea and eat sweets, the tea was not from the store's menu but was Ureshino tea, and we used Ogi yokan as a filming prop. It seemed that it was their first time trying Japanese yokan. Keishuen is a Japanese garden in the pond-strolling style, designed by Kinzo Nakane, who was known as the 'Kobori Enshu of the Showa era.' The garden features a dynamic rock arrangement reminiscent of the medieval period, with waterfalls and tea fields placed in an impressive manner, beautifully harmonizing with the scenic backdrop of Takeo. [Introduction of the Scene] <Episode 2> This place appears as the important location where Karma and Sham meet for the first time. Without this shop, they might never have met! [Filming Anecdotes] Similar to Japan's iconic buildings, such as castles, Japanese convenience stores are immensely popular among overseas visitors. They describe them as fun places, almost like going to a theme park. The Malaysian staff also looked forward to visiting convenience stores. They enjoyed seeing the neatly arranged snacks, food, and drinks, and found the product packaging and designs cute, often taking many photos. In season 1, we absolutely needed a convenience store as a filming location. However, filming at a major chain convenience store proved to be extremely challenging, and we almost gave up. That’s when we found this convenience store in Takeo. They were extremely cooperative, even stopping operations on the filming day to assist us.
