It opened to traffic in September 1964. This bridge divides Lake Biwa into Lake Biwa North and Lake Biwa South. There are bicycle and pedestrian paths on both sides of the bridge. The bridge is slightly higher at the Otsu end and has a gently arched shape to accommodate the large sightseeing boats that pass underneath. For this reason, the Lake Biwa Bridge has a gentle curve and looks beautiful on the lake surface with Mt. Hira in the background.

Iwane. It was built during the Wado period (708-714) in the middle of the Nara period (710-794) as a place of state protection and was called Wadoji Temple. In the early Heian period (794-1185), Saicho entered the temple, built a separate building for Enryaku-ji Temple (Enryaku-ji Temple), and converted the temple to the Tendai sect. The name of the temple was changed to the present one after Emperor Kanmu fell ill and Saicho offered sacred water to the emperor, who quickly recovered.

It is the central temple of Tendai culture in this area and is generally known as "Ichii no Kannon-sama" (Kannon of Ichii). In the late Nara period (710-794), Saicho (774-907) experienced a spiritual dream and carved a statue of the eleven-faced Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) from a living yew tree, which became the principal image of the temple. The statue is 3.3 meters high, made of one piece of wood, with a vase in the left hand, a prayer bead in the right hand on the knee, and an eleven-faced incarnation of Buddha on the head. It has broad shoulders and a thick body, giving it a sturdy, heavy, and calm appearance.

The shrine is also famous as a "god of warding off evil spirits" associated with the legend of Tamuramaro's extermination of demons, and the shrine's grand festival is held for three days around February 18 every year, attracting hundreds of thousands of people.
