Address:Chiba-ken, Katori-shi, Iwabe, Aza-Otsuka 1084-1 Otsuka Kofun, located in Obatake, is a large-scale hofun (a burial mound with a flat top) in Chiba. There is a legend that a golden hata-ashi (a part of a loom) is buried here. The place name suggests it is derived from "Ohata," meaning a large loom, rather than Obatake's literal meaning of "an exceptionally large field." Therefore, Obatake is believed to be a village where professional weavers lived. The legend of the golden hata-ashi is considered to be the symbol of a leader or a person of power with extraordinary weaving skills. In addition, the golden hata-ashi is a symbol of nobility. So considering the scale of the burial mound, it can be said that the owner of the burial mound was a noble person with great weaving skills, leadership and power.

Address:〒289-0426 Chiba-ken, Katori-shi, Yamakura 2347 This gongen-zukuri-style shrine of wooden architecture with a copper roofing features a frontage of 4.5 m, which matches the building's depth. It is said that the beginnings of Yamakura Daijin, which sits on a small hill in the Yamakura district, goes back to the second year of the Konin period (811 CE), when the Devil King of Dairokuten (the sixth heaven in the world of desire) was brought here and enshrined to cast away the evil spirits. Until the Edo period, Yamakura Daijin served as the secretary of Yamakurazan Kanpukuji-Temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. In the Meiji period, when the New Meiji Government issued the ordinance distinguishing Shinto and Buddhism, the Devil King of Dairokuten was transferred back to Kanpukuji-Temple. In the third year of the Meiji period (1870 CE), it was renamed as Yamakura Daijin, with Takami-musubi-no-Kami and Susanoo-no-Mikoto as the enshrined deities. Therefore, the legend of the salmon is handed down even now as a legend concerning Kanpukuji-temple and Yamakura Daijin. Yamakura Daijin is designated by the city as a cultural property. Hatsu-u Festival, a festival held every December, is also known as the Salmon Festival because it offers salmon to the gods.
