Iga kumihimo (braid) is a traditional craft of Mie Prefecture. It is made of silk, gold, and silver threads colorfully woven on a braiding stand (square or round stands/weaving or braiding machine stands). In particular, hand-braided kumihimo uses a large number of beautifully dyed silk threads to produce works with a unique texture and excellent elasticity. The origin of this craft dates back to the pre-Nara period when kumihimo was made for Buddhist ritual objects, as well as samurai armor and swords. Panju is a simple snack that has been loved in Ise since the Meiji period. In order to deliver the famous snack of Ise to customers, Yokocho Yaki Shop created Yokocho panju, made from a savory dough filled with a generous amount of koshian (sweetened red bean paste). The dough is made of wheat grown in Mie Prefecture, and the bean paste is made of red beans from Hokkaido. The season-limited sweet potato bean paste is made from Narutokintoki sweet potatoes produced in Tokushima. Only sweet potatoes and sugar are used to make the paste for a gentle sweetness.
